Nothing Is a Lost Cause: There’s Hope Amid the Rubble

What a month it has been at Old Stone Well Farm as a long-deferred renovation project on my 18th-century finally got underway.

And what lurked behind the clapboard was rotted beams. Yikes. I was a bit upset by this news, but I still managed to find a song in my heart. Yes, the singing was inspired by an event I went to on the songs of the Revolutionary War which took place in a fort that was once a rubble of stones.

Between the songs that spoke of faith and hope in a time of hopelessness and desolation and seeing how an old fort that was once a rubble of rock had been beautifully restored, well, I remembered that no matter what happens in life, all is not lost.

There is always the chance to rebuild. And so my friends, welcome! Pull up a chair and join me for a visit! Remember to like, leave a comment and share with a friend.

Blessings to you!

Late Summer’s Sweet Sadness

I can’t believe August is well underway. As late summer comes, I find a sweet sadness filling my heart as the seasons change and I think about all the transitions that happen this time of year: vacations are over, children go back to school, the garden flowers give up its last petals. It’s a time to not fight back the tears, but to embrace the memories — and to share the stories of the past. It’s a time to gather around the hearth and find community. And so, I invite you to join me as I reflect on these August days and share with you all I learned from my fireplace class that I recently took.

It was during that class that I discovered why I am so drawn to the hearth. I also share how we are all hearth keepers and leave you with a beautiful Celtic blessing for those who tend the hearth and home.

As always, it’s a joy to share with you a bit of my life here in Vermont. Leave a comment, press the like button, invite others to join us. Most of all, I would love to hear your stories of summer pasts as we prepare to transition into a new season.

Blessings!
