Old Stone Well Farm

A Very Scary Story

Many of you know I love early American history, so when I discovered a scary story in Manchester, Vermont, I just couldn’t wait to share with you.

So join me at Old Stone Well Farm where I explore not only Colonial America’s views on Halloween, but vampires as well. Yes, you read correctly. Vampires. But that isn’t the only scary story I share. There is something that frightens me more than things that go bump in the night.

Pull up a chair and gather around the hearth. Bring your friends. Share. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments. And if you haven’t already, subscribe to Old Stone Well Farm’s YouTube channel so that you never miss an episode.

Click on the video below…and remember, this year’s pumpkin message will be revealed as well — with a little help (more like a challenge) from the cows!

    • Lois, I am so glad to hear this! It always amazes me how these videos come together. I go in with an idea and as I research, film and pray, the direction changes. This year’s message in the pumpkins was not what I had originally planned. It was a saying that came to me out of the blue, and now that I look back on it, wow…a God moment. I hope you are well, my friend. Things are a bit up unsettled here for me right now. Some changes on the horizon regarding work. I will fill you in more in a few weeks. Never a dull moment in the PCUSA. Blessings and hugs, Donna

      • Donna, we at Rockwell Falls are in special need of prayer, desperate to figure our what God has unleashed among us, and why. Changes in the wind everywhere, and some of them seem scary indeed. I’ll be anxious to hear what changes are in store for you — and of course I think of you and pray for you more often than you could possibly know. Hugs, Lois

  1. Donna, I remember the first Halloween blog I saw of yours. I was blown away by the pumpkins carved with an inspirational message. I thought that it is such a creative idea to counter the “scary” days of Halloween with a positive message. Today’s was another one. Thank you for sharing it and for your inspirational message to live in faith and not in fear. I will take that message with me for the next two weeks as we go through the last days of election season with prayers for our country. Blessings to you.

    • Nancy, I was so touched by your message. I have always loved carved pumpkins…and the inspirational messages seemed like the perfect way to combine fall fun with God’s love. I am glad you get to be part of this tradition with me! And it is funny, but the this year’s message was not what I had planned. The idea for the video and the message changed last minute, and now I realize how appropriate it all is for the time we are now in. All glory goes to God and a reminder to trust the Spirit moving within us. When I stumbled upon that story I shared in the video, it really opened my eyes to how ignorance is the real danger in our world. May we continue to keep the faith and hold on to love now more than ever! Blessings, Donna
