Witch Hunts
It’s Halloween at Old Stone Well Farm and I invite you to come and explore witch hunts with me, mainly why they happened and who some of these women were.
I share with you one of my favorite books that has to do with an 17th-century teen named, Kit, who found herself dealing with witch fever in Puritanical Connecticut.
And in case you were wondering who the last woman to be accused of witchcraft and executed in Europe was, I share that as well. (It happened in the place you would least expect it to — Switzerland!)
Sadly, witch hunts still happen today when we just don’t understand someone else.
Come, join me! Share with friends and let’s move into the month of thanks and gratitude with more patience for others and a deeper appreciation for opposing viewpoints.
Donna, Thank you for both of your Halloween videos and messages. Every year I look forward to your pumpkin carved words. I remember the first time I saw them, I was amazed. I never thought about carving words on pumpkins. It is such a nice change from the “scary” Halloween faces usually carved on them. Your message about witches gave me new insights, especially about the back stories and about the metaphor of “witches” still present today. I dream of a world where difference is accepted and appreciated.

I am glad I did the pumpkins this year! I almost didn’t as I was busy and the weather was not cooperating (windy and rainy many days!). I also wanted to do the lighting in the back of the pasture near the wooded area but that meant lugging the pumpkins all the way to that location. I did pile them in a wheelbarrow and carted them back there! And the day of filming was windy, but by the time night began to fall the wind subsided. It was the easiest pumpkin lighting have done! Usually I am struggling with trying not to have the flame blow out. When it got dark and I went to walk back to the house, I was greeted to the most beautiful moon! It all worked out. I am so glad, too, that you enjoyed the witch video. I found it all very interesting and want to share with others. As always, you have blessed my day with your kind words!!! Blessings!!
